Online Mediation & Mediator Training

Two sides. One conversation. A resolution that holds.

Common Ground brings mediation online — live, confidential sessions for family, workplace, and business disputes — and trains the next generation of mediators through certified courses, live classes, and ongoing webinars.

How mediation with us works

The structure of a good conversation

Mediation isn't improvised. Every session follows a deliberate process built to move both sides from position to agreement.

Fully online, face to face

Secure video sessions with breakout rooms, so each party can speak privately with the mediator when needed.

Confidential by design

Nothing said in mediation is admissible later. Recordings are never kept without written consent from both parties.

Scheduled in days, not months

No court backlog. Most disputes get a first joint session within a week of intake.

Agreements that hold up

Every resolution is drafted into a written agreement your lawyer can review and, where needed, file with the court.

Mediator leading a calm, focused conversation between two parties

“My job isn't to decide who's right. It's to get both sides talking about the same problem.”

About Common Ground

Built by a mediator, for people who'd rather not go to court

Common Ground started as a single mediation practice and grew into a platform because the same question kept coming up: who trains the next mediator? Today we run two things side by side — a live online mediation practice, and a training program for people who want to do this work professionally.

  • Accredited mediator, Family & Civil Mediation
  • 10+ years resolving workplace and commercial disputes
  • Certified trainer, Mediator Skills Certification Program

Become a mediator

A curriculum that goes from theory to certified practice

The course is taught in four stages. You move through foundational theory at your own pace, then train live — because mediation is a spoken skill, not a reading one.

View course pricing
  1. Stage 1

    Foundations of mediation

Core theory, the mediator's role, neutrality, and the stages of a mediation session.

  2. Stage 2

    Practice skills

Active listening, reframing, managing high-conflict conversations, and running a private caucus.

  3. Stage 3

    Supervised mediations

Co-mediate live, low-stakes sessions with feedback from a certified trainer.

  4. Stage 4

    Certification

Final assessment and a certificate you can use to list yourself in our mediator directory.

In their words

From people on both sides of the table

We went in barely speaking to each other and came out with a co-parenting plan we both actually agreed to. Three sessions, all online, no courtroom.

R. Kapoor

Family mediation client

The training program is the reason I felt ready to take on my first real case. The supervised practice sessions matter more than any textbook chapter.

S. Fernandes

Certified through Common Ground, 2025

Our business partnership was two weeks from a lawsuit. The mediator kept both sides focused on the business, not the grievance. We're still partners.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Mediation itself is a voluntary, confidential process — it isn't a court ruling. However, once both sides reach an agreement, we draft it in writing, and either party's attorney can file it as a legally binding contract or, in family matters, submit it to the court for approval.
